Diary: A "Masculinity Crisis"?

At the end of last month, China's education ministry suggested young Chinese men had become too "feminine"and promotes education drive to make boys more 'manly', redesigns physical education classes in elementary and secondary schools.

I welcomed this overhaul of physical education, because P.E. classes are often taken up by other basic classes and students are busy with their studies, resulting in a lack of exercise. But I don't think it would have any effect in shaping masculinity. Because the Chinese were once called the "Sick Man of East Asia", we were terrified of that, and it had a huge impact on our culture. Many online users pointed towards China's male celebrities being to blame. Our recent aesthetics are mainly influenced by the K-pop culture. And these celebrities largely are known as squeaky-clean, well-groomed, and with delicate features. But they think that strong, muscular men with military spirit are what we need.

The government has rarely taken a stand on women's rights or LGBTQ+. They recently destroyed a subtitling group (that was the one of main sources of foreign films and TV shows for Chinese) and released a program on condemning bad artists (without a clear definition of what is bad, nobody knows where the bottom line of speech or morality is). In short, instead of encouraging young people to think independently or to indulge in entertainment, they just want youths just to indulge in studies and sports.

Scalper Bots

The number of resellers have been increasing for the past several years. They use scalper bots that send notification to them soon after high demand products are available, and allow them to buy the products faster than others. Retailer are struggle to remove their accounts by verifying customer's identity, but it doesn't seem to work.
Last year, face masks disappeared from drugstores and convenience stores. Instead, we could find them sold at high price on the flea market apps. It found out that some people earn money by buying up them. Their behavior is really harmful and should be restricted. However, app developers hadn't deal with this issue at all until they got a lot of criticism.

Axolotl

Axolotl sind eine der coolsten Tiere der Welt. Der Name Axolotl kommt von Xolotl, ein aztekischer Gott, der der der Zwilling der berühmten Schlange Quetzalcoatl war. Dieses Tierchen ist etwas ganz Besonderes, es kann Eigenschaften seiner Jugend zu behalten, was Wissenschaftlern Neotenie nennen. Mann merkt das in der äußere Branchia und auch in dem Schwanz. Es kann sogar Körperteile regenerieren! Leider ist es vom Aussterben bedroht und kann nur in einem See in Mexiko gefunden werden.

Pumps

These are two different models of pumps that was tested in our laboratory.
The first model is acting as a forevacuum pump, mounted at the base of vacuum chamber and additionally putted into steel enclosure to shield ambient against heat radiation.
The second pump is the main pumping device and it makes the vacuum more better.
Special cables serve as a electrodes providing electrical current to the pumps.

Ich lerne jeden Tag Deutsch, Ich lerne auf Italki, Anki und mit podcasts. Als ich Koreanisch gelernt habe, habe ich auf Italki gelernt.

Jetzt ich kann nicht schlecht Koreanisch sprechen aber als ich in Korea gelebt habe, kannte ich sehr gut Koreanisch sprechen.

Meiner Deutsch Lehrer ist Philip und er ist ein schön Lehrer. Ich lerne Deutsch jeden Dienstag mit Philip. Ehrlich, vor die Stunde, will ich nicht zu lernen. Aber, nach die Stunde fangen, ich bin glücklich.

Heute es schneit und sehr kalt. Ich muss warmen Mantel tragen. Ich bin früh aufgestanden, um 6Uhr, und ich bin ein bisschen spazieren gegangen. Fuer Fruehstueck habe ich leckeres Essen gekocht. Ich habe zwei Eire, zwei wurste, ein Proteinshake und ‘bruschetta’ gegessen. Ich esse das jeden Tag zum frühstück.

Robotaki is set to present himself to his fans for the first time in six months.

The Chinese-Canadian DJ announced today that he will appear on“B&L Beatsmash” with Louis Futon tomorrow evening. The show is run by a Twitch channel called “Brownies and Lemonade.”

In “B&L Beatsmash,” two DJs appear together and take turns to play their unreleased tracks, remixes and signature songs in each 20-minute-long round. Topping it off, in the final round, they challenge themselves to make beats out of selected sound samples submitted by viewers.

Having been on the air since last August, the music show has starred various EDM artists such as Flux Pavilion, Feed Me, Juelz, QUIX and more.

Will Robotaki’s appearance on the show signal his comeback this year? Stay tuned!

How much this video convert to money is important question?

Just watched a Japan You Tuber shares his income from 2020 April to December.

Lowest month was 83,000, highest month 386,000!

I think that is really good result.

Each month he only make less than 10 videos, some months just 2~3 videos.

The video is just a PowerPoint cover his own voice.

That is a really low entry cost, you and I can do the same thing.

If you don’t have a good looks, beautiful voice…you still can make good money.

Un paseo

Esta tarde mis compañeras de trabajo y yo dimos un paseo en el parque. El parque tiene un lago muy grande donde se hace regatas y alrededor del lago hay un camino de tres millas.

Fue difícil hacer un buen plan con horarios tan diferentes, pero valió la pena y me gustó mucho caminar con ellas. Quiero fortalecer las amistades con mis compañeros de trabajo.

Each year corresponds to a specific animal in this order, and people have their animal based on their birth year as same as Zodiac sign. I was born in 2001 which was a snake's year, so my animal is a snake. You would wonder why cats aren't included. This is because a cat was deceived by a mouse when deciding the twelve animals. Therefore, cats always chase mice.

TOKiMONSTA, who has been quarantined since her entrance to Seoul last week, regularly shares videos of her quarantine life via her Instagram and TikTok.

The shared videos often feature the 33-year-old artist tasting Korean food and snacks provided by the quarantine facility she stays in.

Utilisation excessive du téléphone portable

À voir les gens téléphoner en tout lieu et à tout moment, on pourrait croire que leurs portables leur ont été greffés dans la main... Que pensez-vous de cette utilisation excessive des téléphones portables? Se justifie-t-elle vraiment? Ne constitue-t-elle pas des nuisances dans la vie sociale?
On parle en ce moment de l’omniprésence du téléphone portable dans le monde. Certains apprécient beaucoup ses avantages à travers des services variées qu’apporte ce moyen pour satisfaire leurs besoins. D’autres s’alertent des usagers sur ses impacts négatifs potentiels qu’il faudrait prendre garde.
Tout d’abord, grâce à ce petit objet, on peut rester en contact en permanence avec les autres n’importe où, n’importe quand et n’importe endroit. Nous pouvons le montrer en prenant l’exemple du moment où les retrouvailles entre plusieurs personnes et leur famille sont difficiles à cause de la pandémie covid-19, l’apparition du smartphone est considérée comme une meilleure solution pour prendre en contact avec les gens de leur famille. Ensuite, le smartphone permet également aux usagers de découvrir d’autres services intéressantes. Non seulement téléphoner, texter mais aussi prendre des photos, écouter la musique, surfer sur Internet, jouer les jeux vidéos... tout cela aide les gens à faciliter à la fois leur vie privée et celle professionnelle.
Mais parallèlement à des avantages, il y a aussi des inconvénients à utiliser excessivement ce moyen. En réalité, l’addiction aux appareils électroniques en général et au téléphone portable bouleverse la vie des gens. En effet, ils passent beaucoup de temps derrière l’écran du smartphone et ratent des autres activités. Cette dépendance est ensuite néfaste sur la santé. Par exemple, la lumière du l’écran portable abîme les yeux, ce qui amène les usagers à souffrer la myopie ou l’utilisation excissive du téléphone portable retarde l’heure du repos nocturne.
En conclusion, malgré ses bienfaits indéniables, il est nécessaire de limiter le temps d’utiliser le smartphone et le consacrer pour faire d’autres choses intéressantes telles que faire du sport, lire un livre, etc.

Colonie de Vacances

C'est une histoire inventée, mais inspiré par le film "À Nous Quatre." :)

Quand j’ai eu 12 ans, mes parents m’ont inscrite en colonie de vacances en Caroline du Nord. C’était un été terrible. Surtout parce qu'il y avait une jeune fille gâtée qui a complètement gâché mon expérience. Malgré le fait que nous nous ressemblions à tel point qu’on pouvait la prendre pour ma sœur, nous ne nous entendions pas. Nous sommes parties sur de mauvaises bases. Tout a commencé quand elle a chopé le lit supérieur de notre lit superposé sans demander ma préférence. Ensuite, elle m’a dupé en insistant que je me baigne à poil après avoir perdu un pari et en piquant mes fringues par la suite. C’est peu dire que je me suis énervée contre elle. Je ne pouvais pas croire qu’il y avait des gens si mal intentionnés au monde! Bien que je n’aime pas enfreindre les règles, je ne pouvais pas la laisser me marcher sur les pieds. Du coup, j’ai complètement chamboulé son lit--en le remplissant plein d'œufs et de plumes. Oeil pour oeil, n’est-ce pas?

В начале семестра я думала, что только записалась на курс русского языка. Но кажется, что это курс по этике, тоже. Сегодня мы обсудили плюсы и минусы суррогатного материнства. Некоторые однокурсники считают, что эта практика аморально. Одна девушка считает, что когда женщина становится суррогатной матерью, её муж тоже имеет право забрать деньги, которые она получает, потому что процедура требует от него жертв. (Я не согласна с этим.) В конце концов мы согласились, что если суррогатное материнство запрещено полностью, то власти не могут защищать права женщин и малышей, поэтому мы против запрещение. Но мы былы разделена. Одной девушке пришлось разбить паритет в конце урока.

La accesibilidad del aprendizaje de idiomas

¿Opinas que el aprendizaje de idiomas es accesible para todos? ¿Por qué o por qué no?

No creo que el aprendizaje de idiomas es accesible para todos. Pues, al menos no la manera en que lo hacemos. Es probable que tengan acceso al Internet todos aquí. Sin embargo, no es así para la mayoría de las personas en el planeta. Además, no hay materiales de muchos idiomas locales, los cuales son necesarios para la comunicación de las áreas rurales. Opino que es un privilegio y habilidad a la vez el aprendizaje de idiomas.

Aunque sí aprenden un idioma muchas personas, es privilegio ser fluido. Por ejemplo en muchos lugares rurales, donde puede que se hable otra lengua en la aldea más cercana, a menudo gente tiene un conocimiento básico de dos, tres o incluso cuatro idiomas. Sin embargo, no es un conocimiento profundo. Aquí (la mayoría de nosotros) queremos ser fluido en el idioma que estudiamos. Desafortunadamente, no es una opción para estas personas. Llevamos pasadas horas estudiando nuestros idiomas respectivos, pero no lo pueden hacer ellos. Les es crítico para sobrevivir a ellos, pero a nosotros es un pasatiempo. Aunque lo necesitemos para cumplir nuestros sueños o conseguir un trabajo que queremos, no es la diferencia entre tener hambre o comida.

A Germination Box

In the previous journal, I had asked to correct a question, which I later posted to the Stack Exchange forum. Basically, I was trying to work out some details on a germination box that I was planning to build. A little later, I actually built the box, and the past month I used it for the germination of peppers and lemon trees. Firstly, I describe the box's specifications, and then I follow with a commentary on its performance.

The box is a cube with an inner side of 40 cm. The frame is made of wooden sticks connected with screws and nails. The sides of the box are made of polystyrene plates to make effective insulation. Each plate is 3 cm wide, so I stacked them in two layers to make the wall 6 cm in width. I use a 50-watt power resistor with 4.7 ohms of resistance as a heating element. The heat is dissipated with a heat sink and a computer fan with the resistor attached to it. The heating is controlled using a simple thermostat. It is all powered by an ATX power source of an old computer. All components are supplied with 12 volts. I also use a fuse on the supply wire of the heating element to make sure nothing bad happens. The thermostat has a built-in thermal sensor that is led inside the box. Both the ATX power source and thermostat lie on the top of the box.

For the germination, I set the minimum temperature to 28 °C and the maximum to 30 °C. It takes about 2.3 minutes for the box to heat up from 28 to 30 degrees and about 6.5 minutes to cool back down to 28 degrees at an ambient temperature of 20 °C. I germinated multiple varieties of peppers—some of them more demanding than others. The germination process is now much more stable at these temperatures. Most of them germinated after a week as opposed to two weeks at an ambient temperature. I had great success at germinating lemon trees from seeds extracted from a bought lemon. I sowed 16 seeds, and now 14 of them grow! One of the seeds was too small indicating that it was not ripe and the other one was cut by mistake when opening the lemon. Germination of citruses is usually more demanding as far as temperature is concerned—the rate of successfully germinated lemon seeds and the time it takes for them to sprout depends on the temperature. I am already surprised with the achieved success rate even at this ideal temperature inside the box!

Bestes Geschenk

Das beste Geschenk, das ich bekommen habe, war vielleicht ein selbst gestrickt Plushie von einer Freundin von mir. Ich war total überrascht! Ich war ein großer Fan von ,,Club Penguin" und in diesem Spiel gab es kleine Tiere, die sich ,,Puffles" geheißen haben. Also es gab dieses interessantes und legendarisches bunt Puffle. Es war nicht eigentlich in dem Spiel, aber ich dachte, es war so süß und ich habe das ihr erwähnt. Sie hatte es monatelang heimlich für mich gestrickt! Das war so nett und süß von ihr.

Jetzt sind wir nicht wirklich enge Freunde, aber sie ist eine der intelligenten Personen, die ich kenne, und möchte sie mit einem tollen Geschenk zurücküberraschen.
