Our Family Travel : One-day Tube Pass

After finishing our modest lunch, we stepped out of the cafe and realized that my one-day Tube pass was gone.
I searched everywhere, checking both my pockets and my bag, but couldn't find it.
We had been walking around London for hours, completely exhausted, and I knew my fatigue had dulled my attention. I assumed I must have dropped it somewhere along the way. To make matters worse, my eldest daughter's travel card had developed a magnetic problem and would no longer work at the automatic ticket gates.

My preference would be to phrase it like this, although what you wrote is certainly equally valid. "Magnetic problem" could also mean that the problem in some sense attracts other problems, whereas writing it like this is a bit clearer, at least in my opinion. This is a pretty minor point though.
