Why I Cook Rice Without a Rice Cooker　　なぜ炊飯器でお米を炊かないか

A pressure cooker might not be the most popular choice when it comes to cooking rice. However, I’m one of those who do. I’ve been cooking rice with a pressure cooker for several years.

炊飯器でご飯を炊く人が多いと思うが、私は圧力鍋で炊いている。そうするようになったのは数年前からだ。あるとき、炊飯器を丸ごと洗えないことが気になってきた。ふたのあたりに乾いた米粒などがたまる。カビや異臭などにはつながらないものの、気持ちよくはない。
圧力鍋でも米を炊けると知って試してみたくなり、3,000円くらいで2.5リットルの小さめの鍋を買った。4合炊けて、20分ぐらいで炊きあがるので時短にもなる。鍋だから丸ごと洗えるし、スープを作ったり豆をゆでたりなどのほかの用途でも使える。
圧力鍋を使い始めてから、料理を負担に思うことが減ってきた。圧力鍋でお米を炊くことは、今では私の料理の大事な一部だ。

Thank you! Personally, I don’t really notice a difference between rice cooked in a rice cooker and rice cooked in a pressure cooker. Well, I’m not a gourmet, after all! lol 　ChatGPT said that rice cooked in a pressure cooker might be easier to digest because it’s cooked under high pressure.
