Last night, there was continuous thunder and lightning in Shanghai for quite a while.
I was woken up around 3 am and then couldn't fall asleep for two hours.
Maybe it's in our genes—we're just wired to fear thunder and lightning.

I’ve always loved thunderstorms. When I was little, my sister and I used to sit with our parents on our covered porch and watch the thunderstorms roll over us. I knew we were safe in our home, and of course my parents were beside me, so I guess I never learned to fear thunder. I don’t go outside when there’s lightning, though. :-)

My first science lesson about thunder and lightning was when I was a kid, and I've been afraid of them ever since.
Before that, I loved wearing my rain boots and holding my umbrella to play in the rain.
