The meaning of my name

My name in spanish is "Alejandro". Years ago I searched about the meaning of my name and i found that its a greek name that means "Protector of the humanity" and "Defensor of the men". My parents, on the other hand, say that this name has two meanings for them; first my mom says that "Alejandro" comes from "Alejandro Sanz", her favorite singer, and my father says that he liked this name because of "Alejandro Magno". So in fact I´m a combination between a famous singer and a king :). I think I like my name, its so common but has a stronger meaning for me. By the way, Alejandro Sanz is now one of my favorite singers and Alejandro Magno is a role model for me.

The mMeaning of mMy nName

Not a big deal, but titles always have important words capitalized.

My name in sSpanish is "Alejandro".

"Spanish" is capitalized... ( ¡Qué chido, my name is Alejandro, too!)

Years ago, I searched about the meaning of my name and i found that it's a gGreek name that, meansing "Protector of the hHumanity" and "Defensoder of the mMen".

My parents, on the other hand, say that this name has two meanings forto them; first, my mom says that "Alejandro" comes from "Alejandro Sanz", her favorite singer, and my father says that he liked this/the name because of "Alejandro Magno".

So in factTherefore, I´m a combination betweenof a famous singer and a king :).

"Therefore" is more formal than so, but stands better at the beginning of a sentence. Between would be better used as a preposition. i.e., "I am standing between Maya and Miguel." "Of" works better when combining two things; i.e., I like a mix of Dr. Pepper and Sprite.

I think I like my name, it's sovery common, but it has a stronger meaning forto me.

its vs it's

"Its" shows possession where "it's" is the contraction of "it is"

Did the dog eat yet? -No, but its food is ready.

vs

It's time to eat!

By the way, Alejandro Sanz is now one of my favorite singers, and Alejandro Magno is a role model for me.

A comma is needed when combining clauses.

Great work, keep going!

"It's" is short for "It is" while "Its" is a possessive pronoun

My name in sSpanish is "Alejandro".

Spanish is the name of a language, and a proper noun, so it must be capitalized. I know in Spanish the names of languages aren’t really capitalized, but in English, they are.

YA few years ago, I searched aboutlooked up the meaning of my name and i found that its a gGreek name that means "Protector of the humanity" and "Defensoder of the men".

1. “Years ago” works, but “a few years ago” feels more natural. The phrase “years ago” has a more serious tone and is often used at the beginning of stories, while “a few years ago” is more casual.
2. I’m assuming you looked this up on a computer, so saying “I looked up” instead of “I searched for” seems more fitting.
3. The word “Greek” needs to be capitalized as it is an ethnicity, and a proper noun.
4. We can take the second “I” out to make the sentence sound less repetitive.
5. We don’t need to put “the” in front of these words, as they look odd with them. I’m not really sure how to explain it but in English a phrase like “Defender of dogs” works just fine without a “the”, but it’s often used for more serious tones like for titles.

My parents, on the other hand, say that this name has two meanings for them; first, my mom says that "Alejandro" comes from "Alejandro Sanz", her favorite singer, and my father says that he liked this name because of "Alejandro Magno".

You should put a comma after “first”

So, in fact, I´m a combination betweenof a famous singer and a king :).

1. You’d put commas before and after the phrase “in fact” as it is being inserted into the sentence.
3. The word “between” doesn’t really work here, so we can use “of” instead.

I think I like my name, its so common but it has a stronger meaning for me.

1. “Its” and “it’s” have two different meanings. “Its” is the it version of “hers” or “his”, you’d use it when referring to something belonging to an object. “It’s” is a contraction of either “it is” or “it has”. The best way to remember this is to remember that contractions are always a combination of two words, so you can split up a contraction into its main components. For example, in a sentence like “I think it’s going to rain”, you could read it as “I think it is going to rain”. So before writing a sentence, you can split up the contraction to see if it works in your sentence. And remember, contractions ALWAYS have an apostrophe.
2. The second part of the sentence is fine, but adding “it” could help it flow better.

This is really good :) Most of your errors are errors even a native speaker would make, I sometimes end up forgetting commas or using “its” instead of “it’s”, and you’re still learning after all :D

Np! :D

Years ago, I searched aboutfor the meaning of my name and iI found that it's a gGreek name that means "Protector of the humanity" and "Defensoder of the men".

This sentence is totally understandable! There are a few changes I made to make it sound more natural.

In English, whenever you use the word "I", make sure that it is capitalized!

My parents, on the other hand, say that this name has two meanings for them; first my mom says that "Alejandro" comes from "Alejandro Sanz", her favorite singer, and my father says that he liked this name because of "Alejandro Magno".

So, in fact, I´m a combination betweenof a famous singer and a king :).

"In fact" sounds just a little bit strange. Personally, I would remove it but it's totally fine to keep it in.

I think I like my name, it. It's so common but has a stronger meaning for me.

Really great! Completely understandable and natural.
