I have a sewing machine. What I make with it is neither artistic nor something I could sell, but it is very practical. So far, I have sewn tissue box covers, scrunchies, placemats, and drawstring bags. They are sturdy enough to last for years.

Since I am not good at hand-sewing, I use the sewing machine for everything except what really has to be done by hand, such as sewing on buttons. Recently, I even used it to mend a hole in a sock.

Having a seamstress do the job or buying new items can be expensive. If you use a sewing machine, you can save both money and resources, and you can also gain a sense of accomplishment.

ミシンを持っている。私が作るのは決して芸術的でもないし、売り物にできるようなものでもない。ただ、とても実用的なものだ。これまでに作ったのはティッシュケースやシュシュ、ランチョンマットや巾着袋などだ。どれも丈夫で、何年間も使えている。
私は手縫いが苦手なので、ボタン付けなどのどうしても手縫いでなければできない仕事以外はミシンを使う。
最近は、靴下の穴が空いてしまったのを直すのにも使った。
プロにお願いしたり、新しいものを買いなおすとお金がかかる。ミシンで縫えばお金そして資源の節約にもなる。それに、達成感も手に入るのだ。
