Original beauty
Before the pandemic, We had a lot of visitors from other countries. I was curious about how were babies or children from other countries, how would they behave. The reason is visitors or residents from overseas are basically adults. So even amid the boom of visitors, I had relatively less chance to see them. I like also to watch how they use chopsticks. When they are clumsy to use them, I become wanting to tell them how to use them. But at the same time, I don't want to because I like to see their original and struggling ways, ingenuity. They look also cute sometimes funny. So I face dilemma.
This tendency of mine is seen in other field as well, I sometimes like Japanese learner's utterings and wordings in Japanese. Sometimes, their voice in tone and speed etc. becomes totally different from the way they speak in other language, as if they become suddenly other persons, or wear different personas. Sometimes, it becomes cute because either they are clumsy in wording, or Japanese language has its trait.
Their way to speak in Japanese cannot be imitated easily by Japanese normal persons. They can make original mistakes. They can play original notes. I don't want to change their innate beauty, and perfection. Naturality or assimilation to the targeted language is not the ultimate aim for what learners should go. That is why Indians don't have to need to renounce their English which looks, at least for me, very wise and beautiful. I love it. They can be proud of it. They can even create their English. But some people think otherwise, though.

I spent a couple of months in Japan, so I'm happy to hear that some people might have found my attempts at using chopsticks and truly horrible Japanese endearing. I know what you mean about Indians having their own way of speaking English. Many of them roll their r's which sounds really weird but also cool as an American English speaker. There are more English speakers in India than in the UK and many of its former colonies put together, so I don't think there's much risk of the Indian dialect of English disappearing.
