My favorite television series is "the big bang theory". When I started to watch I didn't like it because I watched the episode 10 of season 4 and I didn't know any actor, however my friends borrowed me the HBO Max account and I chose see this series again.
When I watched the first episode I like it, because in this series talk about topics like engineer, physics and astrophysics and they always make joke about this topics and I think that I have been learning a little about more engineering.
I am learning english watch movies, yesterday I watched Kung fu panda in English, there not were subtitle in English, therefore I had to listen to what they spoke it but I understood new word like "I figure it out" in last scene. Would you help me with this question ? (I translate this part because I don't understanding some things when I was writing in past form)
- In English, when I speak in the past using negation, is it enough to just change "do" to "did" without changing the main verb?
- Could you help me understand why sometimes, in the past or present, "to" or "ing" is added when two verbs appear together?
For instance: When I started to watch
Thank you for your feedback !!

- In English, when I speak in the past using negation, is it enough to just change "do" to "did" without changing the main verb?
If you mean, for example, "I do not swim" becomes "I did not swim," then yes, in past tense negation, "do" changes to "did" and the second verb stays the same. This is connected to the answer to your next question.
- Could you help me understand why sometimes, in the past or present, "to" or "ing" is added when two verbs appear together?
For example, "I like to swim" or "I like swimming" both make sense in the present tense. This is because the first verb, in this case "like," is always conjugated. However, the second verb, in this case "swim," is never conjugated. Instead, it appears in the infinitive "to swim" or it becomes a gerund "swimming", which means it acts like a noun. In your previous question, "swim" doesn't change because "do" and "did" are the first verb, and therefore "swim," as the second verb, doesn't change. However, because "do/did" are auxiliary verbs (a helping verb), they carry the tense, and the main verb (swim) always stays in the base form, not in the infinitive or gerund. This can be really confusing to explain even to native English speakers, so I hope it made sense!
