Travel in Australia: Gold Coast (1)

I'd never heard of Gold Coast before this trip. What a simple and interesting place name! It's like naming a potato 'delicious potato'. I'm not sure whether the coast in this city is exactly the gold one in the whole country, since there are plenty of stunning views there. We only stayed in Gold Coast for one day, after about a two-hour drive from Brisbane. Luckily, we saw a rainbow on the highway. It seems rainbows always appear after a sun shower.

From the balcony of the holiday apartment, the whole view of Surfers Paradise—local houses, blue waterways, unfinished tall buildings, and small boats passing by—presented a typical holiday scene. Of course, the beach faded out at night. According to online tourist information, Savvy Sessions Photography is a good place for viewing the coastline with its tall buildings. However, Burleigh Head offers better views of the coastline, and there is a national park there, which we didn't have enough time to explore because we needed to get to the airport.

Using "exactly the gold one" sounds a bit weird but assuming you are talking informally, this is a good way to emphasize the "gold coast" thing so it's fine

Even better: "we needed to make it to the airport", implying there was a deadline or rush to get there

It was perfect weather for the locals, who were wearing summer clothes, but it was quite windy for us and we were wearing autumn clothes.

At Savvy Sessions Photography, the wind kept turning my trench coat upside down.

Of course, my hair looked like a mess.

The difference between holidaymakers and tourists is that holidaymakers do everything at a relaxed pace, but we tourists—especially those who come from afar—usually look a bit tense because we try hard to visit as many different places as possible.

So that's the difference between a planned trip and an unplanned one.

I can always find pleasure in a planned trip, but that doesn't mean I don't accept a trip without a detailed itinerary, or even one with an itinerary decided by others.

I'd never heard of Gold Coast before this trip.

I think it can go either way, but I've always heard it called "the" Gold Coast

1) this is exactly how I would say it 2) it sounds a bit off though but I can't figure out a better way to say it So I think it's fine

Again, what you've written is not technically incorrect as I think it can be called "Gold Coast" or "the Gold Coast", but I've always heard it said with a "the"
