Un giovane chiede a un vecchio riccone come ha gaudagnato i suoi soldi.
Il vecchio strofina il suo gilet di lana pettinata e dice:
"Beh, figliolo, era nel 1932, nella parte più buia della Grande Depressione.
Avevo soltanto cinque centesimi in tasca.
Ho investito quei centesimi in una mela.
Ho passato l'intera giornata a lucidare la mela e, alla fine, l'ho venduta per dieci centesimi.
La mattina dopo ho investito quei dieci centesimi in due mele.
Ho passato l'intera giornata a lucidarli e li ho venduti a fine pomeriggio per 20 centesimi.
Ho continuato con questo sistema per un mese, al termine del quale avevo accumulato una fortuna di 1,37 dollari.
Poi il padre di mia moglie è morto e ci ha lasciato due milioni di dollari."

The old guy fingers his worsted wool vest and says,

I invested that nickel in an apple.
I spent the entire day polishing the apple and, at the end of the day, I sold the apple for ten cents.
The next morning, I invested those ten cents in two apples.
I spent the entire day polishing them and sold them at 5:00 pm for 20 cents.
I continued this system for a month, by the end of which I'd accumulated a fortune of $1.37.
Then my wife's father died and left us two million dollars."
