I'm not exactly studying English. I read it fluently and listen most American youtubers without much difficulty. I have been translating from English to French for years. My problem is that I'm a bit shy and don't talk much, even in my own language. I'm also living in a francophone country wher I rarely meet anglophones. So I never really had a reason to get better at expressing myself in this language.
But internet is all about connection and even someone as shy as me has sometimes something to say. Asking for tips on video games or on PC problems, trying to compliment someone about their writing, discussing said writing is common enough. If I'm not a netizen (I like that word!), I do surf everyday and I am very curious. Movies teasers come sooner in VO, it's easier for me to search their titles in English Wikipedia. Same for anything strange I met when I'm reading English fanfiction. What is "Falling Blossoms" and why would it be everywhere on youtube? What is the animated movie "Bell" talking about? Is there a good translation for "drama" in French? (No. There is not.)
What I am trying to say is that communicating, even at as basic level, ask for a better grasp on language than I have. While I don't need to write English properly, I really would like to. So I use this site, and this challenge, to learn where I'm going wrong when I'm talking freely. I have a good memory and, to be honest, when three different people tell you that "You have a problem THERE", you usually don't forget anymore.

I have been translating from English to French for years.

My problem is that I'm a bit shy and don't talk much, even in my own language.

I'm also living in a francophone country where I rarely meet anglophones.

So I have never really had a reason to get better at expressing myself in this language.

I used present perfect tense here to indicate that at no time in the past have you had a reason to get better.

But the internet is all about connection and even someone as shy as me has sometimes has something to say.

Asking for tips on video games or on PC problems, trying to compliment someone about their's writing, discussing said writing is common enough.

If I'm not a netizen (I like that word! ), I do surf everyday and I am very curious.

Movies teasers comarrive sooner in VO, i. It's easier for me to search their titles in English Wikipedia.

I broke up a run-on sentence into two separate sentences.

SameThe same applies for anything strange I metencounter when I'm reading English fanfiction.

The word "meet" is used between people. "Encounter" is used for people and things.

What is "Falling Blossoms" and why would it be everywhere on yYoutTube?

Feedback

Overall very good! Most problems are minor, and some errors (such as the run-on sentence) are frequently made by native speakers.
