Kinkakuji Temple
Kinkakuji Temple (Rokuonji Temple) is famous for its beautiful and golden building that name is Kinkaku ("Kin" means gold and "Kaku" refers to construction). Kinkaku is in the Japanese garden, and it's said this whole of the temple expresses paradise. Kinkaku is three stories tall, and the second, third floor is covered with gold leaf. These three floors have different styles of building, so it exemplifies a fusion of Japanese culture of different eras. Once, Kinkaku was burnt down because of arson in 1950. Before this accident, Kinkaku had lost most of its gold leaf and it looked simple. The current appearance is closer to the exterior at the time when it was built.
