Me, attempting to follow some English grammatical rules

Good morning, everyone. I'm currently trying to improve my writing skills, learning about some English grammatical fundamentals. I must admit that I have completely avoided that part, which has become my biggest nightmare in the last 4 months. Today I studied some rules about plurals and their exception, which I had never even imagined. I always thought that the plural of "wolf" could be "wolfs" (I'm begging you to have mercy on me, now I know that it is "wolves"). Sometimes I feel so ashamed of not having studied English in high school...

I'm also watching "Dexter" and trying to resume an episode after having watched it. Previously, I have been watching TV series just to improve my ear, getting used to listening to the characters for an hour straight. My listening skills have improved a lot recently, but now I need to focus on improving my grammar accuracy and fluency.
I had some private lessons three months ago, which have been really useful and stressful at the same time. I had a really nice teacher who taught me the basics, enabling me to reach a mark slightly below B2.

"...,learning" sounds a little off to me. It might be fine for others. It reminds me of how certain romance languages will use the gerund to express method.

I must admit that I have completely avoided that part, which has become my biggest nightmare in the last 4 months.

Since you used previously, you should use "had". Being using previously you've put the sentence further back in time from the present.

My listening skills have improved a lot recently, but now I need to focus on improving my grammar accuracy and fluency.
