In my opinion, Ego is a best ability of a person , which can makes a person to achieve anything its. It also helps to change our personality andto become a totally different person, who can do anything forto satisfy his/her ego.

But in some cases eEgo can also destroy your whole life.

- I think characteristic is a better fit then ability here. When you refer to a characteristic you are referring to something that doesn't change i.e height. Even though something like someone's ego can increase or decrease here you talk about it as if it's something people are born with and so is not something they had to train or develop which we would call an ability. To be clear, ego can be an ability or a characteristic, it just depends on the context in which you are describing it. For example: His ability to become egotistical is a nuisance (here we use ability because he is changing his egotism depending on the circumstance) vs His ego is his best characteristic (he always has a big ego and it never changes)
- Allow is a better verb here because it's not the ego that makes us achieve anything it's the ego that changes our behavior and with that behavior change it's now possible to achieve anything we want. When someone becomes more possible because of something else we say that something else allows it to be more possible
