Debating

I've often heard of a debate club or debate competitions in American dramas or articles. However, that's not common in Japan. I've never met with someone who belonged to a debate club at a high school. Most students would become silent or upset if they are forced to join the debating. There were few chances that I can discuss controversial topics with my peers.
One of the reason why the debating isn't common in Japan is that a wide variety of knowledge and the skills to get answers quickly are highly valued in the education system. Students are supposed to receive knowledges rather than to participate in classes. In addition, there is only one answer to every question even if there are several ways to solve it. I can understand that the questions asking participants' knowledge is easy to make and grade. However, there are several ways of answers or opinions to the problems in the real world. Being tolerant of opposite opinions and finding the point where both sides can compromise are essential in the communities.

Debating

I've often heard of a debate club or debate competitions in American dramas or articles.

However, that's not common in Japan.

I've never met with someanyone who belonged to a debate club at a high school.

We use "met with" to say that you arranged a meeting with someone for a particular purpose. You met with the company president to discuss a possible promotion. You met with someone who belonged to a debate club at high school, in order to interview them for a newspaper article about debate clubs.

In this sense, where it's simply running into someone, encountering someone, it's just "met" not "met with". And "anyone" because it's a negative statement.

Most students would become silent or upset if they awere forced to join thea debatinge.

Or "forced into debating".

There were few chances that I canfor me to discuss controversial topics with my peers.

One of the reasons why the debating isn't common in Japan is that a wide variety of knowledge and the skills to get answers quickly are highly valued in the education system.

Students are supposed to receivepassively absorb knowledges rather than to participate in classes.

It makes sense that you'd try and use "receive" like this, but it takes some thought to understand it! Here's how I might say it.

In addition, there is only one answer to every question, even if there are several ways to solve it.

I can understand that the questions asktesting participants' knowledge isare easy to make and grade.

Match plural, "questions" - "are".

However, there are several ways ofdifferent answers to or opinions to theabout problems in the real world.

Bit of an awkward sentence, I tried to make the smallest changes I could.

A "way" in this sense is something that's associated with a verb or a verbal noun, not just any noun. So you could have "a way of answering", but not "a way of answer". I like the way she laughs. We all remember the way he ran that night. I don't like the way you're looking at me. I'll show you the way to start the engine. All associated with verbs - to answer, to laugh, to run, to look, to start.

Being tolerant of opposite opinionng views and finding the point where both sides can compromise are essential in the communitiesour society.

"opposite opinions" is okay but "opposing views" is a more natural way to say it. Using "the communities" like this feels really unnatural to me. If you'd said "the community" it would be better, but I think "our society" might be a closer match to what you really mean.

Feedback

High school debate seems a very strange thing to me. I think it might be more about speaking quickly and pretending you know what you're talking about, rather than constructive discussion :)

Thank you for correcting me in detail! Your advises are really helpful. Even though I don't know what high school debate is all about, I pretended to know it (like them) and criticized the education system in Japan, haha.
