The heat wave in Europe is honestly frightening — the number of casualties has already passed 2,000. When I lived in Germany, summers were calm and comfortable, and nobody even thought about air conditioning. My condo didn’t have AC, and most German cars didn’t either. June, July, and August used to feel like the most beautiful season — long days, crisp air, and vivid greenery that made everything come alive. That was decades ago, and it feels surreal to see how quickly the climate has changed. Japan has felt relatively cool so far this early summer, at least to me. But today’s forecast says a heat wave is going to hit Japan in about a week. I guess all we can do is wait and see how things go — and hope it won’t be as severe as what Europe is facing.
