Coffee : Bitter and Heavenly コーヒーは苦くておいしい
"There are a bunch of people who start their day with a cup of coffee, and many of them go beyond just one or two cups. In my case, I usually have only one or two cups a day, so I don’t think I drink too much.
As a kid, I found coffee very bitter and never understood why adults drank it. When I grew up, however, I started to appreciate coffee, especially on occasions like meeting friends and having cake, or when I wanted to concentrate for an exam. Its bitterness goes well with sweets and helps me focus.
Aside from its taste, I love the ambience of a café and being there to read or do some work. So much so that there was a time when I used to go to a café every day. Now that I’m busier with work, I go less frequently. Instead, I buy better coffee to enjoy at home. I like a brand called Mon Café, which costs about 50 yen per cup, much cheaper than drinking out.

子どものころはコーヒーはとても苦く感じ、なぜ大人はコーヒーを飲むのかわからなかった。しかし大人になって、友だちと合ってケーキを食べるときや、試験のために集中したいときなどは、コーヒーはとてもいいと思うようになった。苦みが甘いものとよく合うし、すっきりしてやる気が出る。
コーヒーの味もそうだけど、カフェの雰囲気やその中にいて本を読んだり作業をするというのも大好きだ。それが高じて、以前は一日に1回カフェに出かけていた。今は仕事が忙しくなり、カフェに出かける回数はとても減った。その代わり、ちょっといいコーヒーを家で飲むことにした。
モンカフェというブランドのコーヒーが気に入っている。一杯50円くらいなので外で飲むよりも格段に安い。あまりたくさん飲むのはよくないだろうが、健康に悪影響が出ない範囲で続けたい。
