I had lunch today with nine of my classmates who were with me when I was in a specialized technical secondary school. All of us live in the same city.
A few years ago, at a dinner party, one of my classmates said that we rarely met each other although we were in the same city. He showed pity when saying that. I recommended that we take turns to treat the classmates to a meal monthly.
All the classmates at the meal agreed to the proposal. Since then, we have taken turns to treat the classmates monthly.
There are actually thirteen classmates living in my city. One female classmate doesn’t like to get in touch with us, so she doesn’t take part. The other two classmates passed away before the united - meal event was formed.
Now there are only ten of us attending. It is difficult to have a reunion meal with all the classmates present, because every time, one or two, sometimes even more classmates can’t attend the meal because of some reasons.
When we studied in that specialized technical secondary school, there were two classes with 58 students, but eight of them have passed away.
We were born in the late 1960s. All of us are around sixty. We are getting older and older, so the number of people attending the reunion meal will gradually become smaller and smaller.

Indeed. It is sobering to notice how all of us are getting older.

“Pity” is the wrong word here. You could use “regret” instead, or simply change “said” to “lamented” in the previous sentence and delete this one.
I recommendproposed that we take turns {to treat the classmates| treating} each other to a meal monthly.

Your original doesn’t work because two are dead, so they can’t be “living.”
It is difficult to have a reunion meal with all the classmates present, because every time, one or two, —sometimes even more —classmates can’t attend the meal because of somone reasons or another.
When we studied in that specialized technical secondary school, there were two classes with a total of 58 students, but eight of them have passed away.
