A Video and Two Requests for Help

I just uploaded a new video. You can watch it here https://youtube.com/shorts/mjU8fxrqmrM

Could you do me a favor to tell me two things?

The first is if I wrote the right English name for the plant in the video.

The second is what's your advice for me to improve my speaking English?

The following is a continuation of yesterday - The Measure Words Commonly Used in Chinese (2)

次 (cì) is to count the number of times an action or event occurs. It's similar to using "times" in English. "次" emphasizes the frequency or repetition of an action, and it can be used for a wide range of activities, from daily routines to specific events.

Feedback

Your speaking is good! It sounds like you're learning British English here. I imagine you're exposed to a variety of different English media, and that's great, but if you learn speaking through mimick, I suggest to just mimick British English, as mixing British/American accents can make you sound less like a native.

Thank you so much!

That's a good point! During my school time, our textbooks were British English. But you know, most of the English media I was exposed to was in American English.

Thanks again for the advice! I'll keep my mind on it when I do my shadow practice.

No problem! Yes, American media is quite widespread. Good luck!

1. I have very little knowledge about flowers so I can't help you with the name 😔.
2. To improve your spoken English, you can talk to yourself in English. I do that a lot with Chinese and I think it helped me. Also, try shadowing.
3. Thank you 🙏🏾❤️

1. Sorry, I don’t know the names of many flowers. I like flowers and grew up in the countryside surrounded by wildflowers, in addition to my mom’s flower garden, but somehow I’ve never learned many of their names.

2. I only had trouble understanding two phrases:
a) “Furthermore, [something] other plants…”
b) “…in autumn and winter Asian [something].”

Your cadence and pronunciation both seem pretty good to me. :-)
