파리의 지하 묘지

파리가 큰 도시인 데 땅 밑에도 파리는 큰 도시에요.

4년 전에 친구들과 파리의 지하 묘지 탐험했어요. 물론 금지당한 묘지였어요. 이즘는 파리의 카타콤(catacombes = 지하 묘지) 입구를 직접 다시 찾았어요. 탐험할게요.

옛날에는 파리 밑에서 석회암이 채굴돼서 건물을 지었어요. 엄청 위험했어요! 광부의 건강이 안 좋고 땅은 자주 끊었어요. 18세기에는 광산이 메우고 감독을 위해서 개도 내었어요. 요즘 300쯤 킬로미터의 감독이 탐험할 수 있어요. 그러지만 (위험하지 않아도) 금지돼요 :)

그럼 왜 "카파콤" 이름이에요? 18세기도 파리의 묘지들이 너무 넘쳐서 백골들이 땅 밑에 다 보내었어요. 주민의 건강이 때문이에요. 그러지만 백골이 있는 부분이 작고 방문이 유료예요.

Paris is a big city, but below the earth Paris is a big city too.

4 years ago I explored Paris' catacombs with friends. The forbidden part of course. Recently, I found the entrance again by myself. So I will explore them.

A long time ago, buildings were built with limestone extracted from under Paris. It was very dangerous! Miners' health was bad and the ground crumbled often. So in the 18th century the mines were filled, and inspection galeries were digged. Nowadays there are around 300kn of galeries that can be explored. However (even though it's safe) it's forbidden :)

Why is the name "catacombs" then? In the 18th century too, Paris' cemeteries were too full, and skeletons were all sent down there. It was for the resident's health sake. But the part with skeletons is small, and the visits are paid.

Paris est grand, mais sous terre, Paris est grand aussi.

Il y a 4 ans, j' ai exploré les catacombes de Paris avec des amis. C'était la partie interdite des catacombes bien sûr. Récemment, j'ai retrouvé l'entrée par moi-même. Alors je vais aller les explorer.

Il y a longtemps on extrayait de la craie sous Paris pour construire les bâtiments. C'était dangereux ! Les mineurs étaient en mauvaise santé et le sol s'effondrait souvent. Au 18ème siècle, les mines sont comblées et des galeries d'inspection sont creusées. Aujourd'hui il y a environ 300km de galeries à explorer. Cependant (quand bien même ce n'est pas dangereux) c'est interdit :)

Pourquoi sont-elles appelées "catacombes" alors ? Au 18è siècle aussi, les cimetières de Paris étaient trop plein, alors les squelettes ont tous été envoyés sous terre. C'était pour la santé des habitants. Mais la partie avec les squelettes est petite, et les visites sont payantes.
