Кeep a diary/journal or not?

It may seem strange, but I don't like keeping a diary or journal. I've tried it a few times, but it hasn't worked for me.
Everyone has their own choice of what to write about, and there are many of options. I think the more important question is: Why do we write in a diary? What does it bring to the person? Describing feelings and emotions is great. It saves us from spending money on a psychologist. Writing about interesting events and impressions, poems, and jokes is wonderful, as it allows us to revisit them. Ideas, thoughts, plans, and wishes are excellent, and you can check what has come true and what has not.
When I write for myself, it helps me formulate my opinion on a particular problem or question. My opinion stay with me forever, and I no need the paper with my notes yet.

I've tried it a few times, but it hasn't worked for me.

"Many" is good and formal, but in a more natural way, I'd use "a lot of."

I think the more important question is: Why do we write in a diary?

What does it bring to the person?

Instead of person, I'd use "reader", "What does it bring to the reader?"
